Mineral Turpentine Oil (MTO) specifications typically include parameters like density, color, flash point, distillation characteristics, aromatic content, and copper strip corrosion. These specifications help ensure the oil meets quality standards for its intended uses.

  • Density:Typically reported at 15°C, with values often ranging from 777.0 to 801.0 g/ml.
  • Color:Measured using the Saybolt color scale, with values often between +20 and +30.
  • Flash Point:Indicates the minimum temperature at which the oil will ignite. A minimum flash point of 35°C is common.
  • Distillation:Specifications often include Initial Boiling Point (IBP), Final Boiling Point (FBP), and 50% and 90% evaporated temperatures. For example, the IBP might be specified as a minimum of 145°C, and the FBP as a maximum of 205°C.
  • Aromatic Content:The percentage of aromatic hydrocarbons in the oil, typically with a maximum limit, such as 40%.
  • Copper Strip Corrosion:Measures the corrosive effect of the oil on copper, often with a specification that it should not be worse than a certain corrosion grade.
  • Residue on Evaporation:The amount of residue left behind after the oil is evaporated, typically expressed in mg/100 ml.
